What exactly do I get?
A day-by-day plan built around what you asked for: the main hike or activity each day with distance and realistic time, a Plan B and Plan C for weather, snow, or tides, where to stay with direct booking links, what to reserve and when, and a packing list for the conditions. You can see a real excerpt on our sample plan page.
Do you book anything for me?
No, and that's on purpose. We're itinerary-only: we plan, you book. We don't book travel, submit permits or reservations, or handle any travel money. Every lodge, permit, rental, and tour in your plan comes with a direct link, so you pay the provider's own price and deal with them directly. The only thing you ever pay us for is the planning. We never take commissions, so a recommendation is only there because it's the right call for your trip.
What do you mean by weather, snow, and tide backups?
Mountains don't care about your vacation days. So every day in your plan has a main route and a fallback if the summit is in the clouds, the trail is still snowed in, or the tide is wrong for a beach route. On our Alaska route, one Kenai Fjords day has four versions, including a beach hike that only works if you leave at a +3 ft tide or lower.
How long does a plan take?
Our standard turnaround is 7–10 days after your intake is complete and work starts. Every plan includes one round of revisions. Need it sooner? Rush is +50% of the plan price.
Do you only plan trips you've personally done?
No. Kevin has been to all fifty states, over many years living in an RV, so he knows the country well. And we research and plan anywhere in the USA and Canada. Where we've been ourselves, we say so and show you our own photos. Everywhere else we research it the way we do for our own trips: recent trip reports, park service conditions, tide tables, and closure notices, cross-checked before anything goes in your plan.
Where do you plan trips?
Outdoor adventure vacations anywhere in the USA and Canada, all 50 states included. The trips on this site are a few favorites, not the full list. Tell us where you want to go.
Are you guides?
No. We're trip planners, not a guide service, and we're not with you on the trail. Outdoor travel carries real risk and conditions change fast. Your plan helps you make good calls, and you make the final call on the ground.
What's a Plan Review?
You've already built your own itinerary and want a second set of eyes. Send it over, and we'll flag timing problems, missing permits, conditions risks, and add backups where you don't have any. $79 during our founding period (normally $99).
Do the paid calls count toward a plan?
Yes. The 15-minute call is $35, and a 15, 30, or 60-minute call is fully credited toward any plan you book within 30 days.
How does the Expedition price work?
It's $445 for a trip of up to 8 days, plus $30 for each extra day after that, up to 14 days. So a 10-day trip is $505 during our founding period.
What are founding prices?
We're new, so our first clients get lower prices in exchange for honest feedback. The regular price is shown in parentheses next to every founding price. All prices are in US dollars.
What's your refund policy?
Cancel before work starts for a full refund. Once work has started there's no refund, but you can reschedule for free within 12 months. After delivery, revisions are the remedy: every plan includes one round, and we fix factual errors at no charge. The details are in our terms.
I'm not a hiker. Is this for me?
Yes. Pick how much you want to walk each day, from 0–1 mile (see it from the road) up to 10+ mile days. A Drive & See plan is built around scenic drives, overlooks and short boardwalks, with the timing worked out so you're at the good pull-offs in the good light. Plenty of the best views in the national parks are a few steps from the car.
Can you plan for a group with different abilities?
Yes. One plan can carry two paces: a summit or long trail for whoever wants it, and a scenic drive, overlook or lakeside walk for everyone else, with a time and place to meet back up. Tell us who's coming and what each person enjoys.
Can you plan around mobility needs?
Tell us what's comfortable, like how far you can walk, stairs, uneven ground or rest stops, and we'll plan around it: shorter walks, viewpoints close to parking, and fewer long days in a row. We link each park's own accessibility information so you can confirm the details before you go. We can't promise that a trail or building meets a specific accessibility standard, because conditions change; the park has the final word.
Do you plan 14ers?
Yes. A Big Days plan can include a 14er summit: the route, the start time, a turnaround time, and a lower backup if storms build. We're planners, not guides, so we're not on the mountain with you, and you make the final call up there.
Ready when you are
Your trip, with a Plan B.
Tell us where you want to stand, anywhere in the USA or Canada. We'll handle the rest, down to the tide table.
